The SBA, in partnership with the University of Regina, brings Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser to Saskatchewan!
ALL band parents—including those of students not attending—are welcome. You may select between full day (lunch included) or afternoon only (elective lunch) options. While the initial focus of the day will be on Leadership Development for Grade 10 - 12 band students, there will also be sessions specifically for band parents in the afternoon. Band Parent sessions will focus on protecting and strengthening your band program as well as fundraising discussions.

Special Guest Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser
Dr. Tim will offer sessions specifically designed for selected band student leaders, band teachers and band parents. This special event will also include additional development & networking opportunities.
Dr. Tim is a well-known name in the music education world as a teacher, clinician, author, composer, consultant, adjudicator, and, above all, a trusted friend to anyone interested in working with young people in developing a desire for excellence. With years of experience working directly with students and directors in leadership and motivational training, he created Attitude Concepts for Today, an organization focused on the area of positive attitude and effective leadership training.

Sessions for Band Parents
1:00-2:30 - Building on a Solid Foundation
The session will illustrate the value of Parent groups and discuss common challenges in Band Parent group success. Key information on important topics ranging from incorporation, data collection, volunteer recruitment and fundraising will be covered. Establishing connections with parent volunteers from around the province, participants or other group members will also be invited to participate in a special series of follow-up webinars that delve deeper into key topics identified by participants.
2:45-4:00 - The Tie That Binds with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser
Parents play a critical role in not only a music program’s success but also in that of the profession. Spend a few minutes with the incomparable “Dr. Tim” as he says ‘Thank You’ to all parents for their incredible dedication to their children and music education. Learn more about how to secure scholarships in music (even non-majors!), parents’ roles in music programs, and much more.
