| *NEW* SBA Band Diversity Scholarship Application Deadline: March 15, 2024 Award Amount: Scholarships of $500 are awarded each year. Who Can Apply: Band musicians ages 18 - 25 from the BIPOC community or new Canadians who have arrived in Canada within the past 5 years and who are actively involved with at least one band - school or community band, attending some form of post-secondary education on a full-time basis, residing in Saskatchewan and actively contributing to the local band community. The applicant can be registered into any program from a recognized educational institution. The Saskatchewan Band Association is committed to ensuring Band is accessible to all. We also want to support band musicians from the BIPOC - Black, Indigenous, People of Colour - community, as well as new Canadians, in addressing some of the systemic barriers they may face as young adults and emerging leaders. | SBA Graduating Band Student Memorial Scholarships Application Deadline: March 15, 2024 Award Amount: Scholarships of $300 are awarded each year. On average, the SBA awards 4 - 6 scholarships annually. The exact number of scholarships presented varies based on funds available and quality of applications received. Who Can Apply: Band students graduating from grade 12 who have been active in their school band program for at least 4 years & who have specific plans to continue their involvement in band after graduating. The SBA Graduating Band Student Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Beverley Shore. Bev was very active in the Saskatchewan Band Community. She was a Board Member and instructed at SBA Band Camps for several years. Beverley brought her enthusiasm and generosity to all her community music endeavours. | SBA Jazz Education Memorial Scholarship Application Deadline: March 15, 2024 Annual Award Amount: $250 Who Can Apply: Saskatchewan Jazz Band students grades 7 - 12 The Saskatchewan Band Association is pleased to award Jazz Education Scholarships each year with the support of the Gelinas family in loving memory of David Gelinas. The scholarship reflects David's love of music by encouraging other young jazz musicians. David loved music, band and particularly jazz music! His passion and pursuit of excellence was evident to all who knew him. The SBA Jazz Education Memorial Scholarship honours his memory by awarding dedicated jazz band students from grade 7 - 12 with financial support to encourage their ongoing development as a jazz musician. The number of awards presented each year will vary based on funding and quality of the applications received. To apply students must complete the online application form by following the link below. | SBA Band Internship Memorial Scholarship Application Deadline - March 15, 2024 Award Amount: Up to 2 scholarships of $700 each are available annually Who Can Apply: Saskatchewan Music Education program students preparing for or in their internship year and who are focusing their internship on Band. The Saskatchewan Band Association is pleased to honour the memory of long-time Saskatchewan Band Director and SBA volunteer Greg McLean by awarding two scholarships each year to Saskatchewan Music Education students as they finalize their education and continue their dedication to band development in the province. In addition to his School Band programs, Greg was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Band Association. He served on the SBA Board of Directors, was a clinician and conductor at SBA Band Camps for over 25 years and provided ongoing mentorship to new band directors. The SBA is pleased to award these scholarships annually in recognition of Greg's support for quality band education and internship experiences and his mentorship of new band directors. To apply students must be preparing for or engaged in their 4 -month internship (which includes a band focus) within 12 months of the application deadline.
