SBA Summer Online Band

Band enthusiasts told us there was a need for people in the community to still be able to connect with other musicians across the province, as well as develop their skills over the summer!  SBA is pleased to launch 3 online courses suitable for BOTH youth and adults.

Each course will run over 4 weeks with one 60-75 minute online session per week. Delivered by professionals in their field, each course will provide the best possible virtual experience for all participants at an incredibly low price!

To register for these courses, you will need to register/log in to an account.  To find out how, please see further down the page or click here.

Remote Recording & Production Course

Composition Course

Missed playing your instrument with others?

This program is for those who want to PLAY & develop more on their instrument while learning new pieces of music.  Participants will receive both Masterclass and Sectional style instruction.  Clinicians from the SBA video series as well as others will offer expert instruction.

ADDED BONUS:  simple instruction in quality recording will be provided. Participants will record their playing for inclusion in a "virtual concert".

Did you like making or watching the I LOVE Band videos?  Do you wonder how a virtual concert is put together from various pieces?

Participants in this course will work with professional audio/video editors Eric Heidbreder and Mathew James to learn the basics of audio and video editing to produce quality band recordings, from small ensembles to full band pieces, and an introduction to the steps of production/final editing required to turn individual recordings into performances for remote viewing.

  • Understand what to listen for in rough mixes and basic editing techniques to help improve rough mixes.

Developing Composers Unite!

Saskatoon Band Camp participants will no doubt recognize professional Saskatchewan Composer Paul Suchan.

For this online course, Paul will work with participants to investigate how to use melody, harmony, form, accompaniment, texture, and orchestration to create a composition for small wind ensemble.

The course will be held on TUESDAYs from 4:00pm-5:00pm beginning Tuesday, July 14th.
